Maxim launches SFP+ controller that supports all SFF-8472 functionality、
The combination of the DS1874 with a MAX3798 or MAX3799 laser driver/limiting amplifier provides a low-cost option for APC loop control, modulation current control, and eye-safety functionality, Maxim says. The chipset eliminates the need for software development, thus reducing cost and speeding time to market, the company adds.
The DS1874 monitors six analog channels -- temperature, Vcc, and MON1-MON4, -- which can be used to meet all monitoring requirements. Laser modulation is controlled by a temperature-driven LUT to compensate for tracking error. Two DAC outputs with 36-entry LUTs are provided for additional monitoring and control functionality.
The DS1874 uses 0.35-micrometer technology to enable the implementation of all SFF-8472 functionality in its 5x5-mm, 28-pin TQFN package with exposed pad.

QSFP Profile
10Gtek / 2012-08-11
QSFP basic concepts
The QSFP (Quad Small Form-factor: the Pluggable) Quad-SFP interface (QSFP), QSFP in order to meet the market demand for higher-density, high-speed pluggable solutions born. This 4-channel pluggable interface transfer rates up to 40Gbps. Many the XFP mature key technologies are applied to the design. The QSFP as a fiber-optic solutions, and the speed and density are superior to the 4-channel CX4 interface. Can support four channels of data transmission per channel 10Gbps speed in the the XFP same port volume, so the QSFP the density can reach XFP products, 4 times, three times the SFP + products. 4-channel density higher than the CX4 QSFP interface has been adopted by the InfiniBand standard.
A QSFP Interface use
1.Switches, routers, host adapter bus
2.Enterprise Storage
3.High-density, high-speed I / O
4.Multi-channel interconnectionhttp://www.10gsfp.com/

JDSU ships XFP transceivers for Force10's 10-GbE platform/LuminentOIC announces multi-rate 120-km DWDM XFP
February 14, 2006 San Jose, CA -- JDSU announced that it has shipped more than 5,000 XFP transceivers to Force10 Networks for use in its TeraScale E-Series family of switches and routers. Force10 says it's leveraging the transceiver technology to provide superior levels of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) density in its products.
"The smaller size, low power consumption and interface flexibility of JDSU's XFP transceivers have enabled us to build industry-leading 10-GbE densities into the TeraScale E-Series and, in turn, decrease per port prices," comments Sachi Sambandan, vice president of engineering at Force10 Networks. "As adoption of 10-GbE continues to increase, we expect to see more vendors move to XFPs in order to provide the high densities that will be required for ever-growing bandwidth demands."
Force10 says the smaller size of JDSU's XFP transceiver enabled development of a 16-port 10-GbE line card; additionally, Force10 says the lower power consumption of the XFPs over other transceivers enables the TeraScale E-Series to support 224 10-GbE ports per system. According to a press release, customers such as SEGA Corporation, FiberNet Telecom Group, and Vonage have deployed the Force10 TeraScale E-Series, integrated with JDSU's XFP transceivers, to increase the scalability of their high performance 10-GbE networks.
"As the transition to 10G Ethernet networks accelerates, JDSU is well positioned with an XFP transceiver that enables valued customers like Force 10 Networks to achieve key requirements for their systems, including higher density, reduced power, and improved cost-effectiveness," comments Mike Ricci, senior vice president of JDSU's components and modules group.
JDSU says its 10G XFP transceivers are multi-source agreement (MSA)-compliant, designed to offer a smaller size that reduces board space on line cards for optical networking systems, while supporting multiple 10Gbit/sec applications.
OCTOBER 26. 2006 รข LuminentOIC (search for LuminentOIC) says it has developed the industry's first multi-rate 120-km reach DWDM XFP transceiver for metro and long-haul applications.
The DWDM XFP product line achieves dispersion tolerance up to 2,400 psec/nm through the use of integrated electronic dispersion compensation (EDC). The integrated EDC feature is completely transparent to system OEMs. The module is fully compliant to version 4.5 of the XFP MSA, consumes less than 3.5 W, and is fully RoHS compliant. The multi-rate module operates from 9.95 to 11.1 Gbits/sec and is compliant with SONET/SDH, 10-Gigabit Ethernet, 10-Gigabit Fibre Channel, and G.707 OTN standards.
In addition to the 120-km version, LuminentOIC offers 40- and 80-km DWDM XFP interfaces, as well as 1310- and 1550-nm versions.
The increased bandwidth in the residential and enterprise access space is driving a corresponding increase in bandwidth demand into metro and regional networks. The advantages offered to system OEMs by pluggable optics in the areas of flexibility, time-to-market, and inventory management are well-known. With the OC-48 DWDM SFP already shipping in volume, the 10-Gbit/sec DWDM transceivers in XFP form factor now expand the applications where these benefits can be immediately realized.
"Being first to market with a 120-km DWDM XFP is another example of our commitment to innovate and bring new viable solutions to market," said Mike Fukatsu, director of product management at LuminentOIC. "Providing a full complement of DWDM interfaces will enable our customers to optimize network designs for the appropriate price/performance point for any given application."
The 120-km reach DWDM XFP is currently sampling and will have general availability in Q1 of 2007.
